Design Manager

The ideal candidate for this role should have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in both the apparel industry and design, with a strong background in people management. They will be responsible for the creation of structure for design and product teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable liaising with factories and vendors, and has experience in swimwear and athleticwear. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Word is required, along with a deep understanding of pattern drafting, product development, and Gerber technology. This individual will collaborate with the founders and the product team to drive the design vision, ensuring alignment with the brand's ethos while leading, inspiring, and coaching the design team to carry out the vision from concept to completion. They must excel in presenting concepts and seasonal directions to leadership, while also understanding the impact of decisions on timelines and margins. Attention to detail, market awareness, and a commitment to continual innovation are essential for success in this role.

Time Commitment: Full-Time

  • 8-10 Years industry experience and people management
  • Ability to give and receive feedback effectively 
  • Collaborate with founders and product team to lead design vision
  • Overseeing day to day operations of the design team 
  • Working closely with Operations to establish organizational frameworks for the design and product teams.
  • Experience communicating with factories and other vendors (both domestic and international)
  • Experience with both swimwear, athleticwear and other knit fabrics
  • Experience working with and sourcing sustainable materials
  • A passion for function and fit, across all sizes from XXS-5X
  • Thorough understanding of entire product development process, from concept to completion
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Excel, Word, Google suite
  • Thorough understanding of pattern drafting, product development and Gerber technology
  • Lead, inspire, and coach design team, managing people and processes
  • Present team concepts and seasonal direction to leadership
  • Understand impact of decisions on timelines and margins
  • Combine experience, market knowledge, trend research for innovative designs
  • Attention to detail in product and process
  • Awareness of SKU performance, lead design meetings and action feedback for continual innovation

Compensation: $48-$58/ Hr, Depending on experience
